Day 67 of Round 2 Body Revolution

Day 67 = Workout 9

My day started with my little girl snuggling right into my back, and then she asks, "Can I scooch over a bit more?"  I thought she meant for her to scooch the other way, so I said of course you can.  I was wrong, she nestled into me even more.  Alarm rings out...snooze button in operation at that point.  It was so nice to snuggle with her but I had to get to my workout.  So up I got, a little later yes, but it was actually earlier than yesterday's wake time.

Workout 9...Front of the body once again.  I pushed myself with this one this morning.  8 lb dumbbells was my weight choice of the day.  That might not sound hard to those of you that are lifting heavy...BUT...for those of you that are doing Body Revolution or have done it, you will know that 8 lbs for this workout will be a challenge.

So today is November 8th and the day I scheduled to reach my goal of 100 Blog followers and 200 Facebook page LIKEs in order to give me that push to register for the Tough Mudder Toronto.  Sadly I did not meet that goal.  Clearly you all love me too much to put me through that grueling event, by not passing on my information on to your family and friends.  For ALL of you that did pass it on, I thank you...and I HATE you...I am JOKING of course...I LOVE you, but I can't believe you want me to jump into freezing waters, get shocked by the electric eel and to finish me off...the Shock Therapy. LOL  I want to do this event...am I CRAZY???...YES!...and that is why I NEED the support, so THANK YOU very much for your support.  I will set a new goal date...January 10th, 2013...THAT is when the price goes up once again.  I have 2 months to reach this goal.  I can do it! I WILL do it!  Just think of the stories and the pictures that I will be posting throughout my training and to top it off the day after the event...err...ummm...maybe 2 days after the event.

Now what would cause a real dilemma for me, would be if the Color Me Rad 5K was planned for the same day as the Tough Mudder.  Hmmm...get covered in dirty water, mud and get electric shocked OR get covered in bright coloured paint.  What would you do????  I would love to do both!

AND I would love to catch the events on camera too.  I have been looking into a GoPro Hero3 The World's Most Versatile Camera.  Check it out!  It's a pretty cool camera.  The video caught the attention of my children when we were in the store the other night checking things out.  That would be so cool if "Mummy" was the star of the show.  I would be their HERO!

All right enough about training, let's talk about food.  It's not gonna happen if I don't eat the right foods.  Clean eating ALL the way!  The new November/December issue of Clean Eating Magazine is now on sale.  Lots of great holiday recipes in there to check out.  There is a Spaghetti Squash recipe on page 75 that I will definitely be making.  Spaghetti Squash with Chicken, Pears & Parmesan.

Today's food...
Breakfast: Steel-Cut Oats with Slivered Almonds & Dark Chocolate
Instead of just plain water to cook the oats in, I used some steeped tea from David's Tea.  I thought of this while the tea was steeping.  If I would have thought of using it before I made the tea, I would have chosen a different flavour.  I used Cocomint Cream.  I should have used Banana Dream Pie...next time.

Don't get me wrong the Cocomint Cream was nice, but I didn't have any coconut in the house to add to the oats, instead of the slivered almonds...next time.  With the Banana Dream Pie tea, I would put some fresh banana into the cooked oats along with the dark chocolate and almonds...mmm...next time for sure!

Lunch: Sweet Onion Chicken with Carrots and Salad
I made up some chicken breast up today for my lunch.  I mixed up about 2 tablespoons of Sweet Onion Dressing with 1 tablespoon of Olive Oil and about 1 teaspoon of Balsamic Vinegar.  Poured it over the Chicken breasts and baked for about 25-30 minutes.

And lunch was served.

Snack: Clean Sugar Cookies
During quiet time today, I made up some clean sugar cookies.  The other night I picked up some Halloween bake ware up at 80% off the regular price. It was awesome!  SO...it was Halloween cookies for snack time today.
And this won't be the only day for these.  I am not one to put great bake ware away for a whole year just because it's seasonal.  If it's good, use it.  All year long!
I will post the recipe for these cookies on the "Cook With Me" page.

Dinner did not happen for me.  We had to go out to our children's school for parent/teacher interviews.  Got good reports from both of our kid's teachers.  Very please parents we were walking out from the school.  Our next stop was the comic book store and this is where my night turned for the worst.  My husband told the kids they could each get one or two comic books.  This is where the whining began and it didn't stop.  Two wasn't enough, my son wanted three, and that wasn't happening.  So...we became the worst parents on earth.  The parents that were on a mission to buy stuff for Birthday Party loot bags...HIS birthday party loot bags for this coming Saturday.  Terrible we are.  Aren't we???  We needed to go to the LEGO store next, but first we needed some food since we left the house at 5:23pm after the last daycare kid left.  To the school by 5:30pm.  We stopped somewhere to eat, and by this time, I was in a really bad mood.  I was upset from the way my children were acting towards my husband and I.  I didn't feel like eating anything.  We carried on our journey to the LEGO store and picked up a few more bits.  After my husband bought the loot bag bits, I was sneaky and picked up a few things for my son for his birthday.  As mad and upset as I was, I still wanted to get him these little things because I know that they will make him smile on his birthday. I paid for them and snuck them into my bag seconds before my son came over to the counter. (Being a parent is one of the hardest jobs in the world, even though I get frustrated at times, I love my this job and I love my employees with all my heart). Then off to the store to get the makings for a birthday cake.  My daughter freaked out because she couldn't come in the grocery store with me.  My husband took an earful in the care while I was in the store picking up cake supplies.  While I was in baking aisle, I had a woman ask me what she needed to make gingerbread cookies.  I am not a walking talking recipe book, but I did try to help her as best I could.  She was looking for a ready made mix, the store didn't sell anything like that.  I even took her up to the cold section where the Pillsbury cookies can be found.  But there were no gingerbread to be seen yet.  They may have them as it gets closer to the holidays.  Even though I was unable to produce some gingerbread cookies, she thanked me over and over again for helping her.  My spirits were lifted and I felt good...until I returned to the car and my husband filled me in on the behavior of our daughter.  It was late, they were tired and it was bedtime.  Thankfully next stop was HOME and to bed.  Sorry for my little venting session but I just wanted to tell you why I didn't eat any dinner.  Hopefully both my kids will get a good night's sleep as tomorrow is a PD Day.  I hope the drama will not carry on in the morning.  So with that being said, I am going to bed to rest up for what lies ahead of me tomorrow.

Until then...Stay Strong!

Good night

Day 66 of Round 2 Body Revolution

Day 66 = Cardio 3

In yesterday's post I was up in the air of what my cardio would be for today.  Well I stuck with Jillian this morning.  I got out of bed a little later and had enough time to squeeze it in.  I think my DVD player knew that I was running behind a little...OR...it was scared of what Jillian was putting me through and wanted to give me a break.  It skipped, jumped, hopped and froze up for a total of 5 minutes throughout the entire workout.  I was like WTF??? is going on...but in order to get my workout in, I kept pushing on.  Instead of the 34 minutes of Cardio 3, I worked out for about 29 minutes and still burned 273 calories.  I still got my shower in and got my children up, fed, ready for school and out the door with no illness this morning.

Water intake has been great today.  Over the month that I had that crappy cold, I told you that it was harder to drink my water.  I found that I had trouble breathing and just did not feel like drinking as much as I normally do.  But good news prevails...I am back at it.  At 10:30am today I had already taken in 56oz of water.  Yes, pee breaks are more frequent, but the benefits of drinking are worth all those extra trips to the bathroom.

In addition to my haphazard Cardio 3 this morning, I also had a nice 37 minute spin.  I put the daycare kids down for their nap, and got it some spin time.  Grabbed another quick shower and carried on with the day.  I love spinning.  Part of my play list included Party Rock Anthem Clone Mix from the Ministry of Sound Running Trax 3(Disc 2) , Born This Way by Lady GaGa, Celebration by Madonna and I Wanna Go by Britney Spears.  These were just some of the BIG names on my play list.  I cooled down to some other songs from a band that is getting bigger everyday...Walk Off the Earth.  Check out their new stuff... R.E.V.O....it's available on iTunes.  Remember...this is the band of 5, that shared one guitar while performing Somebody That I Used To Know.  They are great!

Today's food...
Breakfast: Egg Whites and Turkey Strips with Salsa

Lots of protein to start my day.

This was also a nice way to start my day.  David's Tea Organic Banana Dream Pie Tea.
Yum, Yum!

Lunch: Broccoli and Turkey Strips with Sweet Onion Dressing

This was just a quick put-together-lunch.  It turned out to be very delicious.  I think a few onions thrown into the mix would have made it PERFECT...next time.

I was planning on just eating the turkey with the salad, instead I down sized the salad and mixed the turkey in with the broccoli.  I am so glad I did.

Snack: Pecans
Aww Nuts!
I grabbed a handful of pecans to satisfy my afternoon hunger.

Dinner: Great Canadian Sandwich from Arby's
I know what you are thinking...That's not clean eating!  And I know that, and I won't be eating another one of these for a long long time if ever.  But never say never.

Tonight we started to pick up some stuff for the loot bags for my son's birthday party on Saturday.  The party plans are coming together.  A couple more nights of getting things organized and we will be ready for Saturday.  Oh yes...we mustn't forget the cleaning up of the house that must take place yet again.  All the Halloween decorations must go back into its place until next year.  Right now some of it is still lying on the attic/loft floor.  My daughter pulled apart all the skeletons and placed their bones all over the floor up here.  So now I have to clean up a bunch of bones rather than full skeletons arms and legs intact.  ARRGGHH!!!  Tomorrow I will do that.  Right now, I'm going to bed.  Back to Workout 9 in the AM.

Until then...Stay Strong!

Good night

Day 65 of Round 2 Body Revolution

Day 65 = Workout 10

Workout 10 completed this morning...feeling good.  Woke my son up, fed him breakfast, we were on our way to the school bus and he got sick in our driveway...blah, blah, blah...ME...not feeling so good anymore. That's why this post is almost non existent.  You know life gets in the way of well, other parts of life.  My daughter had dance class tonight and my son just wanted to snuggle.  Family time is important time.

I do feel a bit bad by not writing today because YOU are like my family too.  Each night I write you the story of my day, whether you read it before bed that same night or the next day, it's like a bedtime story.  Only some days I try to light the fire under your butts to get you to work out and eat right.  So that might not be as soothing as a bedtime story should be.  But it will get you fired up to set out those workout clothes, set the alarm an extra hour earlier and get your butt into bed.  And it's all because I care.  Together we can make this world a healthier place to be... and THAT, starts with ME and YOU.

Before I leave you for today...I want to wish my cousin Melissa a very Happy Birthday.  Have a wonderful day full of love, health and happiness.

The pictures below are of the Ban Tai River Gardens.  This is where Melissa now lives with her husband, Richard, together they run this beautiful place here on earth.  LOVE IT!  Check out the Facebook page for more information about the resort.  http://www.facebook.com/bantai.rivergardens1?fref=ts

Clean Eating all the way!

I'll be back tomorrow with tales of my Cardio session...will it be with Jillian and the gang, or will I venture out on my own again and spin????  Maybe both.  If I get out of bed when my alarm rings out, I will be able to get both done.  Time will tell...

Until then...Stay Strong!

Good night

Day 64 of Round 2 Body Revolution

Day 64 = Workout 9

Back to the front of the body.  Well I caught up on my extra hour and some.  I slept in this morning.  I knew that I could get my workout done in the afternoon during daycare nap/quiet time.  And that is what I did.  Workout 9 is only 34 minutes long, so it was easy to get it done in that time.  I also worked my chest a little bit more after the workout and I did my Plank...#JustPlankIt! Just 2 minutes today.  My arms were sore after I completed Workout 9.  I upped my weights for the last circuit.  While they were using 3's & 5's, I was using 5's and 8's...ouch.  My arms were shaking as I was doing the Side Plank Crunches.  I love doing those, but today I felt all wobbly because of the 8 lb dumbbells I used for the Lateral Raise with a Curtsy.  But if I don't push it, nothing will change for the better.

Sometimes, there is something that makes you push even harder.  Today I realized what that "something" for me was/is.  By now, you all should be familiar with my "Stay Strong" necklace.  If not, there is a picture of it in the side panel of my blog.  Well I wear this necklace ALL the time.  The only time I have taken it off is when I am going to jump into the shower, but it goes right back on as soon as I am out again.  So it has taken a beating just like I have while working out.  Over the summer I lost the blue ball bead off of it and was left with just the orange one and I was okay with that until...I lost the orange ball bead.  I continued to wear it everyday as my reminder to Stay Strong!, even without my beads, but it just wasn't the same, I had lost my BALLS!  So yesterday at the KW Mom show and Handmade Fair, Jessica from Rawkette Jewelry was there and I got my balls back! LOL  Check out the link to Rawkette Jewelry and you too can get some really great gifts for friends, family and yourself too.  I am wearing my Stay Strong necklace again, balls in tact, and...
it's like I have my Mojo back...Yeah baby!

After Workout 9 and my 2 minute Plank hold, I did a mini 8 minute Chest workout.  It was just a combination of Chest Press and Chest Fly, using 8, 10 and 15 lb dumbbells.  Since I had already worked the front of the body with Workout 9, I just wanted to add a little extra something since I got my balls back.

As I mentioned last night, I wanted to get out for another run tonight but that didn't happen.  Unless I went out now, but I can tell you right now...that's NOT going to happen.  This post almost didn't happen.  After reading stories to the kids at bedtime, I was ready for bed.  But since I had started writing this post after my workout this afternoon, I HAD to finish it.  I am going to cut it short now and get my butt into bed, since tomorrow I will be working it, it needs to get some rest.  WOW! That doesn't sound very good now, DOES IT?!?!?!?  LOL  You all know what I mean.  Tomorrow I work the back of my body...Back, Glutes, Hams, Triceps with a little bit of Abs.  So...

Until then...Stay Strong!  and get some balls of your own...LOL

Good night
