Body Revolution Day 72 of 90

Day 72 = Workout 12

I just want to start off with something TOTALLY unrelated to Body Revolution, but not unfamiliar to you all.  I F#%King ROCKED my Plank Hold Challenge this morning.  Even after going through Workout 12, which again, is NOT easy on the arms(it's not as bad as Workout 11 though). Oh YEAH!!!!!   Check out this time>>>>>  Once I got past 2:45.0, it was ON...I wasn't giving into the pain...good pain...this time...the challenge was definitely ON for me.  My arms were dead however, when I came out of my plank.  I was listening to the song "Someone Like You" by Adele, but covered by Walk Off the Earth, a band from Burlington, ON.  Anyway, every time Sarah Blackwood(from WOTE) would sing, "...sometimes it hurts instead...", I would think of the hurt that was happening in my body at the time(and Jillian, it was the "good hurt"...like "hurts so good").  I know the song is about moving on from a mate in the past, however I don't think of that when I hear this song, I just really like the song.  I see many people on http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ wanting to get in shape to attract their ex, and hopefully get him/her back, it doesn't work that way.  They have moved on, and SO SHOULD YOU!  Get in shape for YOURSELF!  You are WORTH IT!  The ex IS NOT!
I like this one more so than Workout 11.  Maybe because I was working my butt and my abs at the same time in this one.  Many of the exercises have been done before in previous workouts or in cardio, just some weights or jump training are added.  Remember on Day 59, when I mentioned Jillian must have gotten some of her moves from the movie, Elf???  Well she has done it again.  Again with the Crab Kicks...this time she does take your hands off the floor...eeekkkkk!!!!  Don't be scared though, we don't really jump kick, but I guess you could if you wanted to, but be careful.

Here's the clip from the movie Elf again...

I just think this is hilarious.  I saw Cannonballs, Squat Jumps, Crab Kicks, Dancing Crab, High Knees and all other sorts of moves.  LOL

Cicuit 1 starts with a Lat Pull with a One Legged Bridge...NICE!  I used 10's, it wasn't so bad.
The Tuck to a Sprawl(a Hollow Man) move is fantastic for the abs, it's a good one.  She refers to this one as a Reverse Snow Angel, I could have done these outside this morning.  From those we move onto Alternating Pop Ups, great for the butt.  Are you seeing know WHY I like this one so much???

Circuit 2 starts with Wheel Push Ups...I could do 3 of them and then my arms couldn't move, I was stuck in Wheel for the remainder of the time for this move.  I will try again on Friday.

Circuit 3 starts with move Jillian calls Teaser...Great for the abs AGAIN!!!!

Circuit 4 starts with Single Leg Squat Jumps...GREAT for the butt AGAIN!!!  Jillian finishes Workout 12 with the move from Elf(just kidding), Dancing Crabs(or am I kidding?) It's a good one!

LOVE IT!!
More about this one on Friday.

Today's food...
Breakfast: Multi-Grain Pancakes with Syrup & Berries
See I told you it would be sooner, rather than later...

I used Agave Syrup instead of honey or maple syrup this morning.
I think next time I will try the berries with maple syrup or honey as have always used for these pancakes.

So this is what was happening outside when we came out to walk to the school bus stop this morning.
SNOW!
My Chives are in there somewhere.

Lunch: Grilled Halibut with Fresh Berry & Ginger Salsa/Easy Herbed Yogurt Bread
I was going to eat the last serving of Roasted Chicken with Whole Wheat Pasta and Spinach Pesto, but then I looked at the calories and they were too high to enjoy a piece of the Easy Herbed Yogurt Bread along with it.  So I switched it up, I ate the second serving from yesterday's lunch with the bread.

Snack: Easy Herbed Yogurt Bread(as shown above and below)
I gave some to the daycare kids for afternoon snack, so I had another piece of this yummy bread.  It is more like Banana Bread texture.  I may even try the same recipe with bananas next time.  I used a very dark maple syrup and I am wondering if that is why my bread appears darker on top.  It wasn't burnt, just dark and very good.

The making of the bread, and the final loaf.
The recipe for this bread is from, Tosca Reno's Eat Clean Cookbook.

Dinner:  Chicken Barley Pilaf
I used the same recipe as the Turkey Barley Pilaf only I used Chicken instead.  Next time I might try using beef.  This is the food I prepared last night, for tonight, as tonight we had to take our daughter to her dance class.  Easy...Heat, Eat and Go!

This was just a good as the Turkey one.  Check out the recipe on Day 49 of 90

So now that the hours of the day are winding down, I am starting to feel Workout 11 in my arms.  I am not SUPER sore like I have been in the previous "first weeks" of the other workouts.  Today's workout-soreness will probably set in overnight.  I just hope my daughter stays in her own bed tonight.  I need a good nights sleep.

I mentioned yesterday I would give you a full time schedule of all the workouts now that I have completed them all.  I still have 18 days to go, but I will be doing the same workouts until the end.

Workout 1 - 32 minutes
Workout 2 - 36 minutes
Workout 3 - 35 minutes
Workout 4 - 34 minutes
Cardio 1 - 26 minutes (1 minutes intervals)
Workout 5 - 36 minutes
Workout 6 - 32 minutes
Workout 7 - 35 minutes
Workout 8 - 34 minutes
Cardio 2 - 32 minutes (30 second intervals)
Workout 9 - 33 minutes
Workout 10-34 minutes
Workout 11-35 minutes
Workout 12-35 minutes
Cardio 3 - 33 minutes (20 second intervals)

So there you go.  There is the run down of the times for ALL the Body Revolution Workouts and Cardio.  Some of them go over by some seconds, but I rounded them down instead of up as most were under the 30 second mark.  All my times were taken from my heart rate monitor.
As far as calories burned, since some have asked...I cannot give you that, as we all will burn differently because of weight, age, fitness level and intensity.

I just want to congratulate Hannahpta from http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ for taking up my Plank Hold Challenge.  She rocked her starting time...a plank hold for 1:30...AWESOME Hannah!

Also, Kelly, a reader, is going to give the Plank Hold Challenge a try as well.  You will ROCK it too!
Kelly also told me she has been turned onto Next Organics Dark Chocolate Dried Fruits from reading my blog.  She hasn't tried the bananas yet, but someone has, because when I went to buy some more for us and a friend, I couldn't find any more.  They were sold out.  WOW...I didn't know that the whole of Kitchener/Waterloo read my blog...LOL!  We tried the Apricots, they were good, but they were higher in calories per serving than the bananas.  These are really good, but just watch how many you eat at one time.  They can be addictive...Stay Strong!!!!

Tomorrow is back to Cardio 3.

Until then...Stay Strong!

Good night

Body Revolution Day 71 of 90

Day 71 = Workout 11

Well it was tough, BUT not as tough as I thought it would be. Jillian did bring me to my knees though. It was during the second set of Cable Push Ups. I probably could have finished them from my toes but I decided to put my knees to the ground, and then...she said, "3 more"...I thought, 'DAMN!'.  Thursday I will be doing them all from my toes.  The Push Ups I don't like, are the 3 Level Push Ups.  Years ago I had problems with my wrist, and couldn't even do push ups back then, now I can do them, no problem.  BUT NOT these ones...the 3 Level Push Ups...I tried them, and I find they just hurt, and NOT in a good way.  I'm not wimping out on these, I just don't want to injure myself.  So I will just substitute with Crow Push Ups.  I found the Crow Push Ups much harder than all of the ones she does in this workout, PLUS, I found they really worked my abs.  Oh yeah...we start off with Scorpion Push Ups in Circuit 1, they are pretty good.

YES, this workout has lots of push ups...but you will be able to do them.  You are so much stronger once you get to this Phase, this workout, you can do it!

Again there are many exercises done in the plank position.  Jillian also has us do a Chaturanga Hold for 30 seconds.  Twice of course.  I could do that, but what I couldn't do after I finished Workout 11, was my Plank Hold Challenge.  Well I did it, however, I only held it for 2:26.3.  I tried...but this workout did a number on my arms this morning.  Oh well...that's why they call it a challenge, RIGHT????(please agree with me...LOL)
And the good old Crab Kicks are back in this one.  They do them single time, and the option is double time.  Since doing them in Cardio 3 at double time pace, you will have no problem to push the UP button on these.

This workout is 35 minutes in length.  I will update all the times tomorrow, once I complete Workout 12 for the first time.  I will talk more about Workout 11 again on Thursday.

Today's food...
Breakfast: Greek Yogurt with Quinoa Crunch & Berries

NO...not raspberries again!  While we were out grocery shopping yesterday at David's Gourmet/Kara Foods/Fiddleheads/The Healthy Butcher in Kitchener...yes they are all located in one store on Bruce Street in Kitchener, ON Canada.  I picked up these little gems...

They are like a cherry tomato, ONLY Sweeter.

They were okay with the Greek Yogurt and Quinoa Crunch, but they taste really nice on their own.  I might even try these with the Multi-Grain Pancakes next time I have them...WHICH, I may have them sooner, rather than later, JUST SO the Golden Berries don't go bad.

Lunch: Grilled Halibut with Mixed Berry Salsa/Russet Potato Salad with Spinach

I remember to pick up a piece of Halibut this week.  Last time I made this recipe, I had Haddock instead of Halibut...the wrong H fish.  The both tasted delicious.  AND...I got my raspberries in anyway...hehehe.  I used up the last of the Russet Potato salad.  It was very nice with this fish dish too, just as it was with the salmon last week.

Look at those delicious RASPBERRIES...mmm...yum!!!

Snack: Chocolate Covered Carrot Cake Pop/Ball...Plus some Fresh Pineapple

Dinner: Laksa with Shrimp and Vegetables
LEFTOVERS!!!!  Leftovers are great, even if they are really not leftovers.  With this meal, I knew that I would be the only one in my family to eat it because of the Shrimp.  So I saved the other serving for myself.  Before I started preparing my family's dinner and heating up my dinner for tonight, I made tomorrow night's dinner.  But I will leave you in suspense until tomorrow's post.

Tonight's Laksa was more like a noodle-veggie stir-fry, and not a soup as shown in the Fat Burning Meal Plan recipe book.  It was just as good though.  This meal does take time to make, but it is definitely worth it.

During daycare nap time today, I decided to make some bread from one of the recipes from Tosca Reno's Eat Clean Cookbook.  Easy Herbed Yogurt Bread.  Well I started to make it.  You mix 3 ingredients together and then it has to sit for 24 hours...so I will bake it tomorrow, taste it and let you know how it tastes.  This bread is made up using what Tosca calls, "Power Flour".  I tried finding all the flours a week ago, but the store was sold out of a couple of them.  This week I was successful in getting the rest of them that I needed.

The Power Flour is made up of the following flours:
Barley
Brown Rice
Amaranth
Spelt
Kamut
Whole-Wheat

This flour mix is used in other recipes in her cookbook, so all the flours will get used up in time.  I am SO looking forward to tasting this bread.  I love savoury breads, and best of all, this one will be CLEAN.
I will see how this one tastes as the recipe is written, however, I would like to try adding onion and peppers to it next time.  I will be trying more and more new recipes as the days and weeks go on.  Like I said yesterday, the Calamari one is coming up SOON.  Eeeekkkk!!!  I was telling 2 of the daycare mums about it, and they both like Calamari, so I told them if I didn't like it, they could split the other 3 servings.  LOL

Just for verification...

Here was my time for today's Plank Hold Challenge.  I told you my arms were TOAST!  I will know what to expect on Thursday.  There is always tomorrow.

Until then...Stay Strong!

Have a great night!

Body Revolution Day 70 of 90

Day 70 = Rest Day

Ahhhh...I slept in until 10am this morning...I love rest days.

No loss for me this week on the scale, and no real gain either. Because it was such a crazy busy week and eating some different foods that I myself, did not prepare, I knew I wouldn't drop anything. And that's okay. I am not discouraged at all. I made wise choices when it came to eating out, and I was able to maintain the weight that I was at, at the beginning of the week. This coming week should make a difference though. Starting with Workout 11 in the morning.

Today's food...
Breakfast: mmm...Multi Grain Pancakes with Maple Syrup & Blueberries...mmm

SO delicious, and yet SO CLEAN.

My kids enjoyed a serving between the two of them, and I threw the other 4 servings in the freezer.  Even though the 90-days of Body Revolution are coming to an end, that doesn't mean eating right stops there too.  I will keep on eating right, eating CLEAN because that is just the way it is now.  Even if I choose to do another program, and it too may have an eating plan with it, I will still enjoy some of my favorites from the Fat Burning Meal Plan recipe book included in the Body Revolution program.

Lunch: Chicken Salad with Green Grapes on a Wrap Topped with Onion Crunch
Because I was able to sleep in this morning, I ate my breakfast at almost lunch time, so lunch was eaten mid afternoon before we went grocery shopping.

ALWAYS eat before going out grocery shopping.  That way you won't tempted to throw any no-so-good items in your shopping cart.

I used up the leftover Chicken Salad from what I made up yesterday morning before going to the show.  However today, I put it on a tortilla wrap and ate it like a taco.  It worked out to be the same calories as using a bun and just as good.

Snack: Sea Salt Sweet Potato Chips/Oranges with Lemon Yogurt Cream/Rice & Sesame Cakes Yogurt Covered(Nativa Organics)
I want to make my own Sweet Potato Chips, but for now I picked some up while we were out today.  I put a full serving of them in a dish and my little girl ended up eating half of them.  I'm so glad she likes sweet potatoes too.

After dinner I also made up the Oranges with Lemon Yogurt Cream.  I also had some Yogurt covered rice and sesame cakes.

Dinner: Beef Stir-Fry with Broccoli and Shiitake Mushrooms served with Long-Grain Brown Rice
This recipe calls for Brazil Nuts...I didn't have any in the house, so I used almonds instead.  The other few times I made this same meal, I hadn't used nuts then either.  So it was a nice change and great taste.  I did buy some Brazil nuts while we were shopping because I know there are a couple other recipes that call for them, so now I have some on hand.

While we were out shopping I also picked up something else for a recipe that I didn't think that I would try, I bought the squid rings for the...Calamari dish from the Fat Burning Meal Plan recipe book.  Eeekkkk!  I'm not sure when I will make it, maybe Thursday.  I have all my days planned out already but you know me, I like to change things up if I have the ingredients in house.  My husband told me, "Don't try to trick me into eating it, I will be sick"...LOL  I will make the 4 servings and freeze the other 3, that's if my kids don't try it.  I will try to get them to eat it.  They may surprise me, and LOVE IT!  I will let you know how that all goes.

So I told you that one of my rewards would be Jillian's new Kickboxing DVD.  I ordered it and another program through Amazon last week.  This was waiting for me at my front door Friday night we we got back from the wedding.  The other, that I will tell you about as soon as I get it and look over it all.  It may be my next workout program.  I will probably do Jillian's Kickbox FastFix the week after I complete Body Revolution.  Then I will go from there.  FastFix is made up of 3 Intense 20-minute workouts.  Workout 1 focuses on toning the upper body, Workout 2 is going to tone and sculpt the lower body, and Workout 3 really zeroes in on the abs, all while melting off the fat with wild and fun kickboxing cardio.  I will most likely combine this DVD with my Spin bike workouts.  I will be sticking to approximately 30 minute workouts, just like Body Revolution.  Over the last 70 days I have gotten used to ONLY working out once a day/6 days a week, for approximately ONLY 30 minutes a day.  I LOVE IT!  I have mentioned before that I can fit this into my life and maintain it over time.  And so can you!

I still have 3 weeks left in Body Revolution and I am going to ROCK those 3 weeks!  Starting with Workout 11 in the morning.

Until then...Stay Strong!

Good night

Body Revolution Day 69 of 90

Day 69 = Cardio 3

Well I did it!  And I did it!  Last night I thought I would be too tired to do Cardio 3 this morning.  And I thought there was NO WAY that I would be able to do my Plank hold either...BUT...I completed BOTH.  All this happened before I went to set up for the Made By Hand Show in Mississauga.  I felt okay when I woke up this morning.  I got up at 5:30am this morning and made my way downstairs to finish off week 10 of Body Revolution...well I guess tomorrow's Rest Day will finish it off.  Then onto Workouts 11 & 12, the final 3 weeks.  As the program states that you do these 2 workouts for week 13.  With only 3 weeks left...get your answer into me for the "Stay Strong" Necklace contest.  Remember email me your answer to phatsoslim.staystrong@gmail.com Please refer to http://phatsoslim.blogspot.ca/2012/04/body-revolution-day-58-of-90.html if this <<<link does not work, just check out Day 58 of 90 for all the details.  So far there are 9 names in the draw for the necklace.  Good luck everyone!

In addition to Cardio 3, I also logged in the time I spent setting up and taking down for the show.  Once, when I did a show, I wore my heart rate monitor, so I had figured out what my calorie burn for this action.  I logged this only because I do a lot of lifting and walking and lifting and walking, some times in a short period of time.  So sometimes I have to hustle.  I don't always log in the full time, just to make sure I don't go over on my calorie count.

This is what the finished set up looked like at today's show...

The show was great and I met lots great people too.

I had one customer refer to me as "tiny"...I felt like hugging her, but that's not very professional, is it now???
That was a nice NSV(Non Scale Victory)!  As I was talking with these ladies, I told them, that in the last 11 months, I have lost 44 lbs.  I also mentioned my blog...I'm so silly...the other week I made up some business cards through http://www.vistaprint.ca/, and they were delivered this week...SO...I took some with me and gave them out today along with my Maus Wear business cards.  Today is Earth Day, let's make it Great Health Day too.  Anyways, these ladies said they would check out my blog.  So I say to them, Hello and welcome to my world.  I hope that I can help you, and all the other readers to become a Healthier Version of each and every one of YOU.
I had a great neighbour, Athena and her husband from http://www.athenasdiapercakes.com/ ...check it out!  Because I like to talk, I was also telling them, and another neighbour behind me, about my journey through Body Revolution and how you, the followers/readers inspire me each and every day with your comments and emails.  Thank you!

So since I had the show today, today's food is not that exciting.  Let's see what I had today...

Today's food...
Breakfast:  Steel-Cut Oats with Raspberries, Almonds & Honey

I made the full recipe yesterday.  My kids and I had some, and I saved the rest for today.  Today was supposed to be my favorite...Multi-Grain Pancakes...however, I did not have the time to make a fresh batch up this morning, so I will be making them tomorrow.  The Steel-Cut Oats were just a nice as the were yesterday morning.  I just heated it up in the microwave, and it was ready to fill my belly until lunch time.  A friend, Coquetona, on http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ sent me a recipe for Overnight Oatmeal.  I will try sometime this week and let you know how it is.  I'm sure it will be delicious.  Thanks Coquetona!
After I ate my breakfast, I made up my lunch for the day and got my snacks packed up.

Lunch: Chicken Salad with Red Grapes & Toasted Pecans
That is the recipe name, however, I used green grapes and no pecans today.  I started eating the sandwich and once I had one half already gone, I remembered to take a picture...

Remember if you are on the go...either pack a lunch or choose wisely with what is provided.

Snack: Chocolate Covered Carrot Cake Pop/Ball
I picked this snack because I knew there would be vendors with treats and other goodies that may be tempting.  I knew my Cake Pops were CLEAN and good for me.  Yes!...Chocolate is good for ME and YOU too!  The good stuff though...dark chocolate...70% or greater cocoa.

Dinner: Subway's 6" Veggie Delight on Honey Oat Bun, No Cheese
Sorry no picture.  After I got home from the show and unloaded the truck, my husband and I and the kids went out to the store and stopped in at Subway on the way back.  I was going to eat the leftover Laksa from last night, but then, while in Subway, I decided I would try the Veggie Delight.  It was nice.  The bun was a bit tough, but the sub was very satisfying.  Because we got home late, I was so hungry that I forgot take a picture of it.

After Dinner Snack:  Roasted Red Pepper Dip/Organic Rice Cakes/Poppers
My calorie in take for the day was not high enough after I logged in my dinner so I thought an after dinner snack would help bring them up.

After a long day, this blog is getting to you rather late and now my helper Indy, the cat is on my lap again and it takes me twice as long to type because he like to rest his chin on my hands or the key board. LOL

One more thing...My Plank hold Challenge...
I even impressed myself today...
I had a bead of sweat running down my left arm.  Then I noticed one going down my right arm, it was like a race.  The right arm won...they both made it down to my wrists by the time above.

Good luck to Hannahpta in her own Plank Challenge...Stay Strong!

Tomorrow is my Rest Day.

Until then...Stay Strong!

Good night
