Day 17 of Round 2 Body Revolution

Day 17 = Cardio 1

I was SO ready to go back to bed this morning even before started Cardio 1...but I didn't.  I completed Cardio 1 and I was SO ready to go back to bed at 4: 36am...but I didn't.  I wandered around my workout area wondering what workout I should do next.  I realized last week that I had posted that I was going to do Killer Abs on Wednesdays following Cardio, that's not what I should be doing because I do it on Thursdays and I want to give my abs a break, time to recover.  So this morning I walked around like a lost person.  I went upstairs, made breakfast for my husband...insert an Awwww here>>>_______.  I'm such a good wife. LOL  After making his lunch, I carried on and made the kids' lunches for school.  All this done before 5 o'clock this morning.  Feeling more like a CRAZY person than a lost person.  I know many of you would agree that waking up at 4am is just plain CRAZY...some mornings I think so too.  BUT I am committed to my journey and helping my husband on his journey, and that is why I do it.

And because there is no magic pill...and this picture sums it up quite well...(excuse the foul language)...

A friend on Facebook posted this on her wall today and I just had to share it with you all.  Do the work, that IS the secret...so true!

After making the lunches and stuff, I ate another Pumpkin Protein Bar(then I put the rest in the freezer) in hopes that would give me some direction.  It did!

I made my way back downstairs and decided to do Crunch's Fat Burning Dance Party followed by the Pussy Cat Dolls Workout..."Don't Cha wish your girlfriend was HOT like me"...just joking...Don't Cha...LOL.  I did this workout yesterday too but I forgot to mention it.  I only do the first of 3 workouts from the PCD workout.  It's not a huge calorie burn, but it's fun to do, and it's something different.  I filled in my time this morning with dance, dance, dance.

Today's food...
Breakfast: Sweet Potato Protein Pancakes

I was experimenting again with pancakes and I had a sweet potato in house that I thought would be nice in the recipe I used yesterday for the Pumpkin pancakes.  I changed it slightly and added some protein powder.

Lunch: Chicken Wrap without a Wrap with Salsa & Cracker Chips

This is my Egg White Wrap with Grilled Chicken and Salsa inside.

Dinner: Meatballs(Lamb) with Onion Bhaji's, Salad and Salsa

I bought some ground lamb on the weekend and decided today I would make meatballs instead of burgers.  I just threw in some spices and some cooked, chopped onions and rolled the mixtures into balls.

Tomorrow it's back to Workout 3, Cardio and Killer Abs for me.  For those of you that are just starting Body Revolution, you will only be doing the one Workout, unless you are on the Kickstart, then you will have Cardio 1 to do as well.  Have fun with it!

I'm going to bed now so that I am not walking around like a Zombie tomorrow.

Until then...Stay Strong!

Good night

P.S. Recipes are on their way.

Day 16 of Round 2 Body Revolution

Day 16 = Workout 4

Workout 4, I had forgotten what moves were in it.  As I was doing the Lunges and the One-Legged Dead Lifts, I thought to myself..."Oh boy I am going to be in pain tomorrow".  Pain, because I remembered that I was going to be doing the Glorious Glutes workout as well today.  In that, there are plenty of One-Legged Dead Lifts.  I have been going heavier with my weights through this second round, and my body is feeling it and liking it.  I have a saying in the Daycare...We don't cry, We TRY!  I mentioned this to you before and it works not just for doing your zippers up, or putting your shoes on, but also for working out, lifting weights, cooking right and eating right.  We don't cry about waking up an extra hour earlier to get that workout in before work, WE TRY, and we don't cry about curling a 15 lb dumbbell, we TRY(only if you are at that stage), we don't cry about cutting out sugars from your eating plan, WE TRY.  If you don't TRY you will never know what you are capable of.  And YOU are capable of great things...if you TRY.

Yesterday I told you I had some leftover pure pumpkin that I was going to use for pancakes today...and I DID!  It's ALL about the pumpkin today...well this morning at least.

Today's food...
Breakfast: Pumpkin Protein Bar/Pumpkin Smoothie/Pumpkin Pancakes
I better watch out, at midnight tonight I may just turn into a pumpkin.  It's all about the pumpkin today.  The pumpkin protein bar was actually eaten way before I had my other breakfast foods.  I was feeling a bit blah after I completed Workout 4, so I grabbed for one of my Pumpkin Protein Bars between workouts.  It did the Trick! Or was it a Treat?  It doesn't matter whether it was a Trick or a Treat, it was delicious.

Moving onto breakfast time, when most normal people are eating their breakfast...Pumpkin Smoothie and Pumpkin Pancakes...Yum!  I mixed up the pancakes and had enough pumpkin left to make the smoothie.  I found this recipe through facebook this morning and thought I would give it a try.  But you know me, I had to change it up a bit.  Don't stress about not having the exact ingredients, if you have something comparable in your cupboards, use it.  Just make sure you write down your recipe so that you will be able to make it again and again if it is SPECTACULAR.  If it sucks...follow the recipe given.  If you still don't like it, don't ever make it again.

Phat's Pumpkin Smoothie
1 Serving

1 Banana frozen
1 cup vanilla almond milk
1/4 cup pure pumpkin
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tbsp honey
3 ice cubes

Combine ingredients in a blender until creamy.

Here is how my smoothie looked...

...and it tasted GREAT!
Now if you can't stand pumpkin, this morning's breakfast is not for you...sorry.

So the pancakes were mixed up, cooked, stacked and waited to go in the freezer...

Before they all took a trip and set up lodging in the freezer, I took a serving and ate them with honey drizzled over the top.  I'm not sure if honey was the perfect choice of topping for these but they still tasted delicious.  I'm sure whipped cream would taste divine on them, but that would up the fat content.  I have made the coconut whipped cream before and it may taste okay with them...next time.
I am still working on the recipe and I want to see if I can add some protein powder to the mix for some added protein. I will post it once I have tweaked it.

Lunch: Roasted Garlic and Butternut Squash Soup with Salmon

It's not pumpkin, but it's along the lines.  This soup is so nice to have anytime of year.  Today is a cold and rainy day, so the soup was a warming treat.  The salmon I had cooked up yesterday.  I had bought to pieces at the store and just cooked them both at the same time.

Snack:  Sweet Potato Crisps with Salsa

Dinner:  Steak with Onion Bhaji's and a Side Salad with Onions and Salsa

The Onion Bhaji's were great warmed up in the oven tonight.  There are still a few left over for tomorrow night's dinner...yummy!  A reader of mine read about my concerns of the Onion Bhaji's being fried, and she, Yummy Mummy sent me a link for Baked Onion Bhaji's http://jeenaskitchen.blogspot.in/2008/11/baked-onion-bhaji-recipe.html   I will be trying that out next time. Thanks again Yummy Mummy.

I am starting to feel this morning's workout in my hamstrings.  All those Dead Lifts I did are doing their job.  I am going to rest my hamstrings along with the rest of my body.  Plus, I am watching the movie Failure to Launch.  It's a bit distracting with Matthew McConaughey in it.  So I am going to sit back and relax and watch the rest of the movie...well unless I fall asleep before the end.  I will talk to you again tomorrow.

Until then...Stay Strong!

Good night

Day 15 of Round 2 Body Revolution

Day 15 = Workout 3

Ugh! What the hell time is it??? Oh yeah...it's 4 o'clock in the morning...time to get up!!!  Insert a HUGE yawn here >>  : O
My husband and I were both very sluggish this morning. But we dragged our butts out of bed and made our way downstairs to begin our 3rd week of Body Revolution, starting with Workout 3 today. I LOVE the Tree Pose with the Lateral Raise...my husband, did not. He said that he needed to do more Yoga in order to do this one.  Shall I turn his rest days into Yoga days...hehe.  He is doing so well though. So far after the first two weeks, he has lost 2.5 inches off his waist and about 10 lbs.  He is feeling sore, but he earned that...LOL...it's the good kind of soreness.

After Workout 3, I moved onto Killer Abs and then I did Rockin' Body's Party Express.  Remember for those of you that are just starting out with Body Revolution, you don't need to be doing anything extra.  Stick with the program as it is planned out, and you will get results.  I am adding extras on to fill in time in the morning.  I am supporting my husband's journey by waking up at 4am to workout with him.  If I returned to bed after just one workout, I would feel like crap once I woke up again.  So I am getting some extra cardio and strength training workouts in between 4:35am and 7:00am.  Plus some added loads of laundry and some early morning blog writing.  The way we have been eating the salsa I made, it looks like I will be spending some of that morning time to make more salsa over the next few months.  LOL.

I have taken some pictures of my arms, well one arm anyway...my right arm...

I know that it is a weird angle, but I'm liking the soft cuts that are starting to appear in my arm.  My arms have always been one of the areas that I did not like.  I didn't like when someone grabbed them because I always felt flabby and weak.  Now I have built my muscle which is reducing the flabbiness.  And I have built my confidence up, and I no longer feel weak.  Now I just have to get my legs looking shapely.  It's not about being skinny, it's about being fit.  Fit, Confident and Healthy.  Stick with your plan and you too will be taking pictures of your shapely arms and legs and abs and butt and every other part on your Healthier Version of YOU.
Today's food...
Breakfast: Holy Crap with Honey Greek Yogurt/Pumpkin Protein Bar

As I was waiting for the daycare kids to arrive, I thought, "Holy Crap I haven't eaten breakfast yet".    I pulled out the Greek yogurt and added some Holy Crap to it.

This scrumptious looking treat was given to me by one of the daycare parents.  It was SO good!  It is a Pumpkin Protein Bar.  I tasted just like pumpkin pie...mmm.
She emailed me the recipe and I made some of my own this afternoon, but mine did not turn out as good as hers.  I had to change some of the ingredients as I didn't have exactly the same as listed.  She also changed some of the ingredients too.  I'm going to try it again and then I will post the recipe for you.

Lunch: Salmon with Mixed Greens and Onions

Salmon = Delicious ALL the time!

Snack: Cracker Chips and Salsa

Dinner: Chicken Burgers with Salsa served with Sweet Potato Crisps and Spicy Onion Bhaji
We picked up an Indian Cookbook a couple weeks ago and my husband has been wanting me to make Onion Bhaji  for a long time now and since we got a cookbook with the recipe in it, he couldn't wait any longer.  So I made some up today.  The ingredients are all healthy and clean, the only part I don't like about them, is that they must be fried.  They were really good, but again they were fried.  I did use Olive Oil to fry them in and patted them with paper towel to get the excess oil off.  My husband was very happy with them.

I had some left over pumpkin from the protein bars so I am going to use it for Pumpkin Protein pancakes for breakfast tomorrow.  Can't wait.

Until then...Stay Strong!

Good night

Day 14 of Round 2 Body Revolution

Day 14 = Rest Day

Not much to say about this rest day...slept in a bit, cleaned the house a bit, planned a bit, grocery shopping, cooking...the regular Rest Day things.  I did pick up something to add to the Prize Pack for my facebook, "A Healthier Version of ME and YOU" page.  I think you are going to LIKE, but first you have to head over to the page and LIKE it.  http://www.facebook.com/AHealthierVersionofMeAndYou Once it hits 100 LIKEs, I will draw out a lucky winner.

A Keep Calm and Stay Strong Tank Top, 2 Stay Strong Towels, a Stay Strong Notebook signed by Tosca Reno and Rita Catolino, a Water Bottle and a copy of Jillian Michaels Killer Abs.

Some inspirational words to keep you motivated.
Get over to the page and good luck!!!

Today's food...
Breakfast: Poached Eggs and Canadian Back Bacon with Tomato
This is what was waiting for me when I came down to the kitchen this morning...

My husband got it ready for me.
He said it was least he could do for me since I have helped him through the first two weeks of Body Revolution workouts and eating right.

Lunch: Salmon with a Salad and Cherry Tomatoes
The cherry tomatoes were from our garden.

Dinner: Grilled Steak with Cauliflower Mash and Salsa

No I am not getting sick of my salsa...just in case you were wondering.  It's so good that it goes with so many meals.  Since I made it, I know what is in it and I know that it is CLEAN.  The third batch that I made has more hot peppers in it and has a really nice KICK to it.  Next time I will make a double batch like that one.  My husband is not really a fan of salsa, but he likes that batch.  That makes me smile just like when I was hearing the popping of the lids sealing.

Snack: Almond Butter and Honey
Just a little after dinner snack.  I mixed a tablespoon of Almond Butter with a teaspoon of honey.  A small snack packed with goodness.

Tomorrow my husband and I will be moving on to the third week of Body Revolution and we will be doing Workout 3...Bring it on Jillian!!!

Until then...Stay Strong!

Good night
