Day 34 = Cardio 2
Top o' the mornin' to ya! Happy St. Patrick's Day! In honur of St. Paddy's day I am writing an earlier post today.
Well, I didn't turn green while doing Cardio 2 this morning. I had my little cheering squad of one downstairs with me, my daughter. She was up before me this morning. I gave her her breakfast and then she sat on the couch and watched me KILL Cardio 2. In the last set of Burpees, she said, "Wow, you touched the ceiling". Then when I was all done, she clapped for me. BIG SMILES and high fives!
For those of you that don't like doing Burpees, they do get easier. The more plank work that you do, the stronger you get and it makes life in Burpeeville so much better. It was like in the 30 Day Shred, I hated doing the Squat Thrusts and Mountain Climbers, now, HA Ha ha, they have nothing on me. No holds over me now. I've become stronger and they have become easier. Mind you, they still get the heart rate up there, it's just that I hated doing them because they would knock the crap out of me. Now I knock the crap out of them! I think I have made my point. And YOU will too!
This is a great Cardio workout. I burned 324 calories in 32 minutes, that's up from the other day(303cal).
I am finding it better, to follow the guys when they do "Fast Feet". They seem to have the knees more forward facing than the girls do. During Cardio 1, after doing this move more, I felt that I wasn't doing it right anymore. After seeing the guys do it in Cardio 2, front and center, I am getting my groove back with this one. Knees forward, butt back and GO!
I weighed in this morning..."in this corner, weighing in at 152.6 lbs wearing the Paris Pink Top..." WooHoo!
I entered this information into my HRM and it finally stated that I was in the "Optimal" range. It's BMI range was different from the one on http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ I think the reward is well deserved this week. I am not wearing green today, I am going to sport my new pink top instead.
I drank my green this morning...
Today's food...
Breakfast: Sexy Shamrockin' Shake
I found this recipe on Twitter from Tosca Reno. http://www.eatcleandiet.com/the_kitchen_table/recipe/recipe.aspx?id=2118
I made it without the protein powder, less calories. I was able to enjoy another Blueberry Banana Muffin with Coconut oil along with the shake.
I tasted it after I had everything mixed and decided not to use the protein powder. I entered 2 recipes into MFP recipe calculator just in case I had made it with the powder. My banana was not quite frozen yet, so I added some ice to the mix. I could have used one of the Frozen Banana Pops, but then I would have HAD to eat the chocolate off of it...mmmm...but I decided it would be best to, just add the ice.
The rest of today's food...
Lunch will be something on the go I think.
So we stopped in at Wendy's. I ordered a Half size Baja Salad, no dressing, no tortilla strips and a cup of water. It was very nice. Sticking with the whole GREEN theme today, this salad comes with a small scoop of avocado. I would definitely order this one again.
Our son had a birthday party to go to today. Once we dropped him off we headed to the Farmer's Market. It is now Maple Syrup time of the year around here, so lots of the Mennonites were selling their maple syrup. And since many of the recipes use maple syrup, I picked up a 1 litre jug.
While at the market, I also grabbed some broccoli, a basket of green beans and some shiitake mushrooms. There is a vendor, La Casbah, that make and sell Moroccan food. It's so good. We picked up a couple Vegetarian BAKED Samosas, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus and a (not sure of the spelling) Mahajeb. <<<My son loves these. I used to get them for myself when he was younger, and he would eat half the thing himself.
Dinner: Chicken Paprikash & Roasted Potato Wedges
This recipe is taken from the Clean Eating Magazine issue January/February 2012
This dish was okay. My daughter and I both liked it, but my husband and my son did not like the chicken too much. So it was two thumbs up from the girls...two thumbs down from the boys. I used smoked paprika instead of sweet paprika.
Snack: After Dinner I had some Baked Garlic Pita Chips with some of the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus we bought at the market.
I picked up some more coconut oil today as I was starting to run low. I will take some more into the bathroom for my skin. Love it! I found this pin about coconut oil on http://www.pinterest.com/ http://www.deliciousobsessions.com/2012/01/52-uses-for-coconut-oil-the-simple-the-strange-and-the-downright-odd/ I hope this link works for you to check it out.
I hope you all had a fantastic Saturday.
Tomorrow is rest day.
Until then...
Stay Strong!
Good night.

I'm going to try facing my feet forward next time I do the Fast feet move too. It kills me doing it the way Jillian does it with her feet pointed outward.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely hate burpees so I'm not looking forward to those in Cardio 2!!
My kids have been doing the workouts with me too. I'm impressed with how well they do some of her moves...LOL!
Keep up the great work! Congratulations on the weight loss! Very inspiring!
Hey Helene,
DeleteDefinitely try the toes forward for the fast feet. Even in Cardio 2, Jillian gets Mimi to demonstrate in the first circuit and I find myself doing it how she is, but the 2nd circuit, Omar is up front and then David in the 3rd, and I just find I do them better in circuits 2 & 3.
Don't worry too much about the burpees, you will be stronger by the time you get to them and before you know it, you are done. And if you look at it this way...You only do them 3 times each time you do Cardio 2, twice a week, for 2 weeks = 12 sets of these for ONLY 30 seconds each set. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
Thanks for reading and for the congratulations. The kind words from you, and all the other readers keep me going.
Thanks,
Trina
That shake looks good. I've got one more week until cardio 2. I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine,
DeleteIt was good. I'm thinking of having another one for snack later today. My snack is supposed to a Banana Almond Smoothie, so I could change things a bit. We'll see what happens.
Thanks for reading.

LOVE Coconut Oil as a moisturizer. It works so much better than chemicals and so good for us. Have you ever tried dry brushing? I have been doing this about 3 times a week and the coconut oil just soaks in and my skin is so soft. http://drybrushing.net/ Seriously works and a dry brush can be found anywhere for about $5.00.
ReplyDeleteHey Meghan,
DeleteI haven't tried dry brushing yet, but I did read about it not long ago. I will definitely try it now and use the coconut oil afterwards. Thanks for the reminder.

Trina, been following your blog and you are an inspiration! i do have a question about the coconut oil, I read that it is high in saturated fat, why would so many recipes include it? I am very curious about this. AM expecting my package tomorrow and cannot wait to get started!
ReplyDeleteHi Jen,
DeleteThanks for following and reading my blog.
The recipes that use the oil, do not use it in large amounts. Since I am not an expert on this subject, I added a link to today's blog in regards to the coconut oil and it's benefits.
That's awesome that you will be getting your Body Revolution tomorrow. I hope you enjoy it as much as I am enjoying mine.
Let your Revolution begin...
