Workout Day 6 of “Build Your Best Body” + A RUSH Zumba Rush

Today was workout day 6 for me.  I ROCKED my first set of Push Ups ALL variations of them.  Each time I do this workout, I improve my reps during my first set of each of the different exercises.  I finish off strong with KILLER planks.  My plank times were all above the one minute mark again today.  If I got my butt straight out of bed when my alarm goes off, I would be able to have the time for longer plank holds.  But for right now, I’m okay with how they are all gradually building.

This was my time for the fourth and final Plank of my workout.
I know that is not 7 minutes, but I will get there again very soon.

After I was done with my strength training, I decided to do a little cardio.  I didn’t have much time but I threw in the Zumba Rush DVD and completed about half of it before I really needed to get my butt upstairs to wake my son up for school.  I really the Calypso and the Merengue dance styles, in the Zumba workouts.  In the Rush workout, during the Merengue segment, I always feel like I am part of the early 80’s boy band, Menudo.  With the hip and the shoulder rolling, all I need is a bright coloured unitard and head band.  Yes I know that I am dating myself and yes I must admit, me and my friends were fans of Menudo.  But that was the time, and I was and still am open to all different types of music.  Some I like more than others.  Not a big Country fan, sorry to my southern friends.

Anyway getting back to my RUSH Zumba Rush workout this morning, it was a great way to burn up a few extra calories.  I felt like my moves had improved.  Maybe it was because I had already warmed up with my other workout.  It felt great to get a little extra cardio done today.  Tomorrow I should be able to do some too because my children have the day off school…so no waking them up early and no making school lunches.  I will have a little extra time for me.

Today’s food…
Breakfast: Frittata

Snack: Tri-Berry Shake
This one here today had strawberries in it too.

Only after I dumped in the berries I realized that it should have be called a Quad-Berry Shake.  I had bought a bag of frozen berries and didn’t realize it had raspberries in it along with the required blueberries, strawberries and blackberries.  Oh well…it was good.

Lunch: Grilled Chicken Wrap

Snack: Greek Yogurt with Strawberries and Walnuts
I could make this one up the right way too today as I had picked up some walnuts at the store on the weekend.

Dinner: One-Pot Chicken
This recipe is in the January issue of Oxygen Magazine, and part of the meal plan.  It was fantastic!

I used vegetable broth rather than chicken broth to cook this up…so good.  Next time I cook the Sweet Potato and Kale Quinoa, I am going to cook the quinoa in vegetable broth too.  It just adds more flavour to the meal.

So I had my nails done the Saturday before Christmas and they looked great.  They looked even better as they grew out a bit, as I had a French manicure and my nails weren't as long as I wanted them to be, but I still wanted the French.

Why am I mentioning this???  Well, I see a lot of people posting pictures of their well manicured nails on Instagram and on Facebook, and I thought I would post a picture of my…well…not so well manicured nails.
Pretty bad eh???

I saw this posted on Facebook last year and LOVED it!
But I never found the time to go out and get it done.

I don’t really care if it is totally “Last year”…it’s not going to last forever.  Right?
I am going to take this picture with me next time I get my nails done.  Hopefully it’s sooner rather than later.

Love it? OR Hate it?  You tell me.  Leave a comment on this post, and your name will be entered into a draw for one of my favourite Yoga DVD workouts.

The prize is Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss with Suzanne Deason…

This was the first Yoga DVD I bought for myself years ago.  I have talked about on my blog before, mentioning that it’s great because it shows different variations of the poses for all levels of fitness.

I will announce the winner in Sunday’s blog post January 20, 2013.  I will then contact the winner for your address details.  Whether you love the polish or you hate it, you will have a fair chance of winning this contest.

Well I must get my butt into bed now.  As I mentioned earlier, tomorrow is a PD Day for the school, so that means I have a full house of children in the morning.

So…

Until then…Stay Strong!

Good night

Trina

P.S. I have to mention this before I go.  Tonight after dinner, my daughter got an after dinner snack and she just needed to take a picture of it.  So she did, and she said, "You can put it on your blog Mummy".  Love it!
