Body Revolution Day 28 of 90

Day 28 = Rest Day

Day light savings...I LOVE IT! It's brighter and you can get more out of your day. Well...at least I seem to.

It's rest day today, the day before I begin Phase 2.  I awoke again to NO alarm, it was so nice. I went downstairs and started to prepare today's breakfast.

Breakfast: Turkey Sausage and Poached Eggs with Sweet Potato Hash

The recipe calls for Chicken sausage, but I couldn't find any so I used Turkey instead.
See...no reason to panic and fall off the healthy eating way just because you can't find a certain ingredient.
The Sweet Potato Hash I enjoyed very much. I do have leftovers of that as my husband doesn't really like sweet potatoes. I'm going to try and freeze a serving or two.

After breakfast, this is how I kept myself busy for a few hours today.  I began this project at Christmas.
My son's bedroom...

His room used to look like this...

That was how I painted it for the nursery almost 7 years ago. But he's getting to be a big boy now, so it was time to repaint.

I'm showing you these pictures not to show off my WONDERFUL talent....LOL...but rather, to show you that if you keep yourself active with other activities outside the kitchen, you won't overeat out of boredom.

I worked on this until just after lunch.  We needed to go out the Home Depot, so we decided to grab some lunch while we were out.  There is a Harvey's restuarant at the Home Depot so my husband and the kids wanted to eat there...blah...even though it was fast food, there was still a 'Healthy Choice'...I ordered the Chicken Salad with Balsamic dressing.
Lunch: Harvey's Chicken Salad with Balsamic Dressing

While at the Home Depot I picked up some potting soil and some packs of herb seeds to start a little indoor garden. To get fresh herbs to use in the kitchen, you can grow them yourself. Later when we went grocery shopping, I bought a Basil and an Oregano plant. Since it will take some time for mine to germinate and grow, I wanted some to enjoy and use right away. I love the smell of fresh basil. It always reminds me of my Grandpa. When I was younger my parents sold produce at the local market on Saturdays. So, Friday nights my Grandpa(my Dad's dad) would come over and bunch the basil for next day sales. Good memory. : )

Now I have that wonderful Basil smell in my own kitchen.

We went grocery shopping and I sampled a spread at the shop. It was beautiful. Honey Butter. I love honey. I almost picked up a container of it and placed it in our cart, but I resisted. I knew it would be trouble. I knew it would sit on the shelf and call out to me everyday, "Trina, I'm here and I taste Oh so good"...nope...I wasn't giving into temptation. Stay strong! Lol

Dinner: Turkey Burgers with Oven Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Carrots and Onions
This recipe is taken from the Kicksart Meal Plan (but I added onions to it)

I am now a fan of Brussels sprouts.

Today's wrap up: On Rest days, keep yourself busy so you don't get bored and turn to eating, start your own little garden, to help resist temptions at home>>>resist them at the grocery store.  And it's OKAY to subsitute some ingredients when preparing your meals.

My Phase 1 progress stats:

Starting Weight: 164.8lbs  Current Weight: 154.8lbs  Total Weight lost: 10lbs
I forgot to measure myself this morning, so I will do it in the morning and post it tomorrow.  I told you I was crap at remembering to measure.

I'm ready for Phase 2 tomorrow...bring on Workout 5...I'm curious.

Until then...

Good night.

    1. Thank you lisa~sunshine for your kind words. Congratulations on you "over 80lbs weight loss". That is fantastic!!!! I will be posting my measurements later today. I was pretty happy with the tape measure this morning when I took them.
I just want to show other people 'like me', who don't have a personal chef, trainer, gym membership, shopper, and that one that I have my fingers crossed for...the "kitchen cleaner upper person", that this program can be done and it can be done right.
My fingers are crossed that you get your Body Revolution soon.
      Thanks for reading,
      Trina

  3. Hiya Trina :D I found you're blog after searching body revolution reviews on the message boards on myfitnesspal :) Loved looking through you're blog and your progress so far. I've done most of Jillian's workout dvds and love listening to her podcasts, so I'm thinking of purchasing the body revolution. I've tried other 90 day workout programs, but I never got past week 3 before either getting bored or finding it to difficult to incorporate 1-2 hours of working out into my day. I love that Jiliian has made it only 30 minutes a day! Awesome!

    1. Hi Maggie,
Thanks for reading. Yes, the short workouts are AWESOME! They are quick, yet very effective and you won't get bored. The way the program works, it's always changing and so I find that boredom has not been an issue.
      Take care,
      Trina
