Body Revolution Day 62 of 90

Day 62 = Cardio 3

I was tired this morning. Thank goodness is was Saturday. I did sleep in a bit this morning, but then I ripped it up in Cardio 3. A sweaty mess...that's what I was when I finished. The sweat came from the Squat Jacks, Fast Feet, Standing Mountain Climbers, Crab Kicks and ALL the other moves Jillian threw at me this morning.  Before heading back upstairs for a shower, I did my Plank hold. Today's time...

My arms were shaking by the 2 minute mark this morning. A bead of sweat was running down my arm. "Stay Strong", I told myself, and I did.
In Cardio 3, you do a lot of Plank style exercises, so needless to say, my arms had been worked hard already.

Today's food...
Breakfast:  Greek Yogurt with Quinoa Crunch and Raspberries

               Doesn't that look delicious?                                          Well...it is/was!

Lunch: Salmon Wrap/Spiced Fig & Apple Compote
Leftovers from the other day.  We were getting ready to go out and I wanted something quick and easy.  The compote will only last in the fridge for up to 4 days, so I thought I should enjoy another serving of it today.  I am going to try freezing the other 2 servings for another time.  The sugars in it put me over my sugar count, but I am not worried because the sugars were CLEAN, from the fruits and honey used in the compote and in my breakfast.

Snack: Sweet Potato with Sea Salt Chips
While we were out, I picked up these chips to enjoy while I write this blog post to you.  They are REALLY GOOD!

Dinner: Veggie & Turkey Sausage Ragu
I found this recipe on the back of the pasta that I had purchased a few weeks ago.  I checked all the ingredients, had them all in house, so I made this up once we got home.  It didn't take very long, maybe 30 minutes or so.
I will post the recipe for this one tomorrow.
As I have had a request for another recipe to be posted.

Question: mzjstef asked: "Where did you start with the clean eating?"

Answer:  I have been purchasing the Clean Eating magazine for a few years now and making the odd meals here and there over the last few years.  Once I started with http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ and began logging my food, I was more aware of what I was putting in my mouth.  I still wasn't eating totally CLEAN, but I was eating better.  The weight was coming off, but then I plateaued in the fall of last year(2011).  Once I started with Jillian's Body Revolution program, I was/am eating cleaner and the plateau had been broken.  There are still a few things that I eat that are not 100% CLEAN, but the majority of my food is.  I picked up a copy of Tosca Reno's "Just the Rules!"...check it out!  It will help you make CLEANER food choices.

Like "Rule #26...Shopping Challenge...Can you do your grocery shopping by purchasing food products with just five ingredients or fewer?"

For example: the Sweet Potato Chips that I purchased today: Ingredients: Sweet potato, canola oil, sea salt.  ONLY 3 ingredients.
Are you up for the challenge?  Go on, give it a try!
This little book is full of great information for anyone, no EVERYONE to own and follow the rules for a healthier life.

Question: I had a reader, Heather, ask me my thoughts on "being able to do Body Revolution in an apartment?????".

Answer: There is jumping involved in Body Revolution. More so in Phase 3. The workouts however have only been 26-36 minutes in length so far, and you are not jumping the entire time. It's hard to say how much noise you would make for the people around you. There are jumping jacks, rock star jumps, high knees, butt kicks, Burpees and more. You could maybe speak with your neighbors, and see what their thoughts are.
The most jumping will be done during the Cardio workouts. Cardio 1 is 26 minutes, Cardio 2 is 32 minutes and Cardio 3 is 33 minutes in length. That is including the cool down.  I hope you can do it Heather, it's such a great program.

I just want to touch on a subject.  It's one that I see come up on http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ many times through messages boards or updates from friends...female friends...sorry guys...it's what I like to refer to as P.I.T.A. time(Pain In The Ass time) others refer to it as TOM...our PERIODS.  Blahhhhh.  I see many people stating that they tend to gain weight while they have their period each month...that sucks!  And that they eat crap food because they crave crap food during that time.  Ladies...Stay Strong!  You don't need to give into those cravings by eating junk food, if you have healthy snacks around, that will help.  Drink lots of WATER too. Once you no longer eat sugary crap, you will not crave it anymore.  Ladies...we can bleed for 6-7 days each month and we don't die...now that's tough...I think you are able hold strong when it comes to those crappy food cravings.  I know how it feels, it's the P.I.T.A. time for me right now.  It's seems like the beginning of each Phase, has been the beginning of P.I.T.A. time for me.  BLAHHHHH!!!  But I have Stayed Strong!  I weighed in this morning, and I was down another pound.   I know it's no fun, but we are women, and we can handle it.  Okay, okay enough of that subject.

Tomorrow is my Rest Day.  I will be resting, grocery shopping and getting ready for the week to come.

Until then...Stay Strong!

Good night

Trina

  1. I actually read just today that our bodies have a higher pain threshold during out periods because estrogen is low so this is actually a time we can really kill it with the workouts. It's right before TOM that's hard but seriously, pigging out on junk food doesn't make it easier.
